And since we want you to showcase your best photography skills, we’ve compiled a mini post size guide 📑 for all the different types of content you can share on Instagram.

Let’s get started! Here’s how to post landscape and portrait images on Instagram with the right post size.

  • Post size: 1080px by 608px
  • Aspect ratio: 1.91:1

When you upload images in a horizontal (landscape) format, make sure it meets the recommended ratio of 1.91:1, otherwise, your image will be published with a black border at the top and bottom of your landscape image.

Note: Most cameras 📸 and phones do not take landscape photos in this format, so you’ll have to edit them manually if you don’t want to see the black border.

  • Post size: 1080px by 1350px
  • Aspect ratio: 4:5

Portrait images are vertical posts that you often see on your Instagram feed. Because they have an aspect ratio of 4:5, you can easily share any vertical image from your phone and use the Instagram editor to crop it into this format before posting.
